Navi Mumbai’s leading builder Raj Khanderi, who had shot himself at his residence on Monday afternoon, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday night, thus becoming the second real estate developer ending his life under apparent depression caused by problems faced in his business.

Khanderi of the Swaraj Builders and Developers, who had been rushed to the local Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in a critical condition, had been on ventilator. He breathed his last around 10 pm.

Khanderi, who had attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself with his revolver in the head at his Sanpada residence in Navi Mumbai, is survived by his aged mother, wife and two children. There were three family members, including his mother and sister, at home when he shot himself inside his bed room. Khanderi’s death is bound to trigger immense speculation over the circumstances that must have prompted him to take the extreme step.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Khanderi was under extreme depression for the past several days. The police have recovered an old diary from the bed room of his residence where he committed suicide. However, the police have yet to establish the reason behind his suicide.
