The Road Transport Ministry has sought a report from Volvo bus manufacturer on recent cases of fire in the buses manufactured by it, suspecting that there could be a systemic failure.
It has also asked the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project to investigate and submit an independent report. “The two incidents are very similar. We have asked NATRiP to submit reports on both quickly so that responsibility can be fixed,” said a senior official of MoRTH.
