Newly coronated Mysuru prince Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has to face legal battle over his adoption

Day after the commencement of world-famous Mysuru Dasara, a Mysuru court has issued notice to Pramoda Devi Wadiyar and  the new prince and her adopted son , Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Wednesday over the issue of adoption.

Chaduranga Kantharaj Urs, nephew of late Royal family scion Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, has questioned the adoption of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar in the court.

The Second Additional Civil Court admitting the petition ordered issuing notices to Pramoda Devi Wadiyar and Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar. Urs, in his plea, stated that as per the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, 1956, a boy or a girl can be adopted only if he/she is below 15 years of age. But Pramoda Devi Wadiyar’s adoption of 23-year-old Yaduveer was a clear violation of the Act, according to Chaduranga Kantharaj Urs’s Bengaluru-based advocate Ajay Govindaraju.
