Kunal talks of video on Sudipto's meeting with top TMC leaders
A three minute-video tape featuring a topmost Trinamool Congress leader during her meeting with jailed Saradha chit fund boss Sudipto Sen at Dellow Bungalow in Kalimpong had mysteriously gone missing. According to sources, the CBI officials who recorded jailed Trinamool MP Kunal Ghosh’s statement upon a court order was told by the suspended Trinamool leader about the 3-minute tape. It was the same meeting when the leader had met another top and controversial chit fund boss Gautam Kundu of the Rose Valley Group.
Though further reports were not forthcoming Ghosh, who had earlier alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was the biggest beneficiary of the multi-crore scam, had had reportedly urged the CBI to grill her in order to get to the bottom of Dellow Bungalow mystery. The jailed MP is known to have said that more time the agencies would take to question the Trinamool supremo more chances there would be of losing evidences.
Ghosh is also known to have told the CBI as to how a senior Trinamool woman leader who was in charge of the party’s labour arm had benefitted from her association with the Saradha chit fund company. Both the ED and the CBI were likely to send notices of appearance to this leader. In an intriguing development, both the CBI and the ED have come across names of leaders including a senior woman leader of the Trinamool Congress. Not only Ghosh but pro-Mamata painter Suvaprasanna had also told the ED that the same leader had pecuniary transactions with the Saradha group.
The leader who was recently defeated in the general elections had allegedly benefitted from her association with the Saradha group, the painter had told the ED, adding another TMC leader handling party’s students’ wings was also associated with the chit fund boss. The name of the leader is Shankudeb Panda who is also a Trinamool general secretary. According sources, Panda, who had started his career as a journalist, used to receive a whopping Rs60,000 from the Saradha.
The amount was regularly transferred from Saradha account to Panda’s account, ED sources, which recently sent summons to the Trinamool leader, said. Apart from the direct fund transfer Panda also received huge amount of liquid cash from time to time, Suvaprasanna, who had himself sold his defunct television channel to Sen for several crores of rupees, reportedly said.
