It was a Pongal with a difference for residents of Ponniammanmedu village, far away from Chennai city. An ordinary RSS worker in the village had a special guest for breakfast and it turned out to be none other than the Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat who turned up dressed like a Tamilian in veshti, shirt and angavastram (shawl).
Dr Bhagwat exchanged Pongal greetings with the family and had an interaction with the three-year old daughter of the RSS worker who was surprised by the fluency with which the Sarsanghchalak spoke in Tamil.
