The BJP on Tuesday commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi "for arresting the drift in governance", infusing "much desired sense of purpose" and improvising "the governance architecture" through "cooperative federalism".

The Prime Minister, for his part, said the NDA Government has more achievements to its credit in the last 10 months as compared to 10 years of the Congress rule and asked party MPs to proudly highlight them before the public on completion of one year of the Government.

He said the fight is not against the Opposition but against those power-brokers who enjoyed the benefits of power and after being dejected are indulging in negative publicity of the Government and party MPs should not be drawn into it.

As the first BJP Government  with absolute majority at the Centre completes one year of governance on May 26, the BJP Parliamentary Party put on record its appreciation of the Prime Minister for providing "transparent and accountable governance" and "enhancing" country's standing and image" in the international community.

Adopting a resolution ahead of one year of governance, the party also praised "the visionary leadership" of Modi "for ensuring social security of the poor and vulnerable sections of society" and setting up in motion a rapid economic development "for inclusive growth".

The resolution was moved in the meeting by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and presided by the Prime Minister.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu said that the Government's approach to address various issues is marked by a six-pronged strategy including that of ensuring social security for vulnerable sections under various social welfare schemes and empowerment of youth through skill India Mission, Beti Padhao-Beti Bachao and other programmes.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the party MPs that there will be week-long celebrations on completion of one year of the NDA Government and MPs will highlight the initiatives taken by the Government in each of their constituencies," Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said after the meeting.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal said the party was unanimous in appreciating Modi's leadership and hoped the Government will succeed in fulfilling the promises made.

Naidu further said while the BJP was pursuing "politics of development" some sections of the political class are keen to promote the "politics of poverty".

"For their own reasons, they want the people of our country to remain poor. We will not let this happen," he said.

Naidu said the MPs were a part of a historic verdict and congratulated them on completion of one year of their tenure. He said people gave a mandate for corruption-free and responsive governance that would help them meet their aspirations through rapid economic development.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister said that there has not been even a single instance of corruption or irregularity and it is a great beginning towards meeting the expectations of the people who were fed up with the 'Scam India' of the last decade. He said a comprehensive multi-layered strategy is being adopted "to reach the unreached, fund the unfunded and bank the unbanked".
