In a bristling attack on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the demonetisation, Member of Parliament from Hyderabad and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen President Asaduddin Owaisi has termed him a “tyrant” who had caused havoc in every home in the country just to satisfy his “ego and false prestige”.
Addressing a mammoth gathering of Muslims on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-nabi” (Prophet Mohammed’s birthday) at party headquarters Darussalam in Hyderabad Owaisi said that the problems Narendra Modi had created for the ordinary and poor citizens of the country were unprecedented in country’s history.
“The revolution that Modi said he was going to bring by scrapping the currency note is never going to materialise. It has only turned the lives of the common people in to a hell”, he said urging the Muslim community to come forward in a big way and help those in distress and facing a lot of hardships on account of currency crisis.
“He had said that the problem will be over in 50 days but it is now clear that it will take at least one year to bring the situation back to normalcy”, Owaisi said.
Pointing at the long queues outside the banks and the ATMs, Owaisi said, “You should remember that the same people will line up outside the polling booth and throw you out of power”.
“Today you are in power but tomorrow you will not be there. Many Prime Ministers came and went. You will also go”, he added.
Taking a pot shot at the Prime Minister’s remarks that he was a fakir (hermit), Owaisi said that a man who had no feeling for the sufferings of the people and no regret over the death of 120 innocent people since the currency crisis broke out can not be called a fakir. “Will a fakir wear a `15 lakh suitIJ What kind of a fakir are you who wears new clothes and a new shawl with a new style every day, who wants to create problem for the poor for 50 days and who is not worried over the loss of 120 livesIJ You are not a fakir, you are a zalim (tyrant)”, he said.
Calling the demonetisation a complete failure, Owaisi said that even Modi did not have any idea what he was doing.
“Some times he laughs and some times he cries”, he said. On Modi’s fear that there was a threat to his life, Owais said, “We pray he lives for 150 years”.
