Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley’s remarks for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress were received with mixed reaction by Congress leaders. While a senior minister said that Jaitley should worry about BJP and not Congress, a party spokesman said that at least people have spoken the truth, though by default.
External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid hit back at Jaitley, saying that he should be more bothered about the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. “How come Jaitley is realising things about Manmohan Singh nowIJ He should worry about his PM candidate,” Khurshid said speaking to a news channel. Khurshid also rejected the post-poll surveys that have given the Modi-led NDA a clear mandate. “There is no need for the BJP to celebrate, they should wait for the 16th. They had started celebrating in 2009 too,” Khurshid said.
As he demits office later this week, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s “able stewardship” was being hailed by Congress as well as BJP on Tuesday. “I think at some point of time, we must learn to be graceful, including the media. Sometimes people speak the truth by default,” party spokesman Abhishek Singvi remarked when asked about how Jaitley and BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar stating good things about the Prime Minister.
“Singh’s experienced and seasoned stewardship, his personal integrity and ability to lead the country through difficult times is noteworthy and India is proud to have earned so many laurels and respect during the ten years,” Singhvi said at the AICC briefing.
