Mithun Chakraborty wants SIR in Bengal to curb corruption

Bollywood star-turned-BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty wants a Bihar-like Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bengal also. Speaking to the media, Chakraborty said that SIR will not only solve the problems of fake voters and infiltration but also curb corruption in Bengal.

“What is the problem with a SIR? I think this is the most desirable way to clean the electoral rolls and the best way to deal with bogus voters and infiltrators. It will also take care of the rampant corruption perpetrated by the Trinamool Congress Government in all levels,” Chakraborty said.

Chakraborty, who was addressing party workers at Arambagh in Hooghly district, also prescribed a “tit-for-tat” formula for the Trinamool Congress goons if they attacked BJP workers.

“I don’t want you to come back home beaten up by TMC goons. If they attack you, give it back to them and speak to them in a language they understand best,” Mithun Chakraborty said.

The TMC immediately hit back at the mega star, the Bengal TMC vice-president Jaiprakash Majumdar said, “It is a clear example of how he is preaching violence, the TMC were always against the violence and always condemns who were involved in it and he being a senior actor and a national figure is teaching violence to the people, but the people will definitely reject his principle.”

Senior TMC MP and advocate Kalyan Banerjee also lashed out at the top actor, saying he was as not a good politician. “I respect him for his acting, I still remember his acting in Mrigaya but I must say as an actor he is a big superstar but has no impact among the people.

“He has no qualification to speak on SIR because his statement proves that he has no idea of the ground realities and what the common people have to undergo every day, he is a traitor who was first sent to Rajya Sabha by Mamata Banerjee and then because of the fear of ED and CBI he resigned and joined the BJP and is now talking all nonsense like a clown,” said Kalyan Banerjee.
