For many aspirants of entering Civil Services who could not afford the expensive coaching a senior IPS officer of Telangana proved a saviour.

Mahesh Murlidhar Bhagwat, police commissioner, Rachakonda has earned the gratitude of several young men and women who cleared this year’s Public Services examination. Bhagwat, despite extremely busy working schedule spent several hours every day to coach and mentor the aspirants.

“It is extremely gratifying that of the 300 odd candidates 84 passed,” said Bhagwat who had started WhatsApp groups for groups of students from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka to guide and motivate them.

He had a crucial role to play specially in the male or break last segment of interview and personality test in which many candidates flounder.

“In this effort I had the support of many other people including my superiors and mentors,” he said.

Not only these candidates could clear the examination but many of them achieved higher ranks. Anvesha Reddy came 80.  Of the 269 candidates from Maharashtra, 50 cleared the exam and three were in the top 100 ranks.

Apart from Whatsapp, he also used Skype and other tools to communicate with the candidates at far off places.

“I am completely indebted to Mahesh sir. Without his help I could not have cleared the interview. A day before my interview he conducted a mock interview with me and it helped me a lot,” said Rizwan Basha.
