A local panchayat in Mathura issued a bizarre ‘fatwa’ by imposing a fine of Rs21,000 on girls if they were seen using mobile phones in public places.

What is more, the panchayat also hailed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his move to close down illegal slaughterhouses in the State. They then issued another fatwa saying that anyone found involved in cow slaughter or smuggling, would be fined Rs2 lakh in cash besides legal action.

The panchayat was called recently to take measures in order to check rising crime in the area. The panchayat in Madura hamlet of Mathura headed by pradhan Mohamed Gaffar lauded the role of Yogi saying that after he became the CM, action against slaughterhouses were taken and many were also closed down.

lauding Yogi’s move, Gaffar announced that whoever was found involved in cow slaughter or cow smuggling/theft, would be fined Rs2 lakh.

The panchayat also announced that any one found selling liquor in the village would be fined Rs1.11 lakh.

Hailing Yogi’s crackdown on roadside Romeos to check eve-teasing, the panchayat ruled that to stop such harassment, they would impose fine of Rs21,000 on girls if they were found using mobile phones on roads and public places.

Interestingly, the panchayat did not stop here and issued another diktat to check gambling in the area and announced that if any one was found gambling, he would be fined Rs1 lakh and shop owners selling playing cards would be fined Rs5,100.

The congregation also decided to help the local police in checking crime and trap on criminals and anti-socials in the area. For this, it was decided to form separate committees for each of crime soon.
