Union Home Ministry on Monday withdrew the Z- plus level security provided to Matang Sinh, the controversial politician from Assam, recently arrested by CBI in connection with Saradha scam. The decision was taken at a high-level security review meeting chaired by Home Secretary lC Goyal, official sources said. Friendship with the tainted politician had cost the job of Home Secretary Anil Goswami. Sinh, who built big media empire in North-East was Minister of State in charge of PMO during PV Narasimha Rao’s regime.
Before he was arrested by CBI on January 31, Sinh was enjoying Z-plus security in 14 States including seven North-Eastern States. It was alleged that sacked Home Secretary helped Sinh to maintain the security by misusing his position. Goswami lost the job for the charges on blocking the arrest Sinh by CBI in the Saradha scam.
