With the BJP all set to host its grand march to the Bengal secretariat expect some ‘fireworks’ on Thursday. With an apparent eye on the next year’s Assembly elections the Bengal BJP has planned a mega march to Nabanna (State secretariat) on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in view of Thursday’s rally heavy police bandobast has been made all around Kolkata, particularly around Nabanna. Prohibitoryorders have been enforced in the area around the Secretariat and barricades put up to ensure the crowds do reach the area. The Nabanna Abhiyan as the programme has been christened is being organized by the party’s youth wing the Yuva Morcha and is likely to witness four groups comprising thousands of people marching to the State secretariat across the Hooghly.
One of the main attractions of the march would be the saffron outfit’s youngest National Secretary Tejasvi Surya who is likely to reach Kolkata on Wednesday night.
Apart from Surya the four-pronged march to Nabanna, the office of the Chief Minister would be led by senior party leaders like Mukul Roy, Kailash Vijaybargiya who would lead one rally from Southern part of Kolkata. A second rally would be led by State party president Dilip Ghosh from the BJP State party office in North Kolkata. A third rally would be led by BJP youth wing state president and party MP Soumitra Khan and Tejasvi Surya and others. Another rally would be led by firebrand leader Sayantan Basu from Satragachi, west of Nabanna, party sources said.
“Though the people are being stopped from coming to Kolkata by police already several thousand of them have landed in Kolkata,” said Khan adding about 50,000 people would march from the State party office itself. Te State Government on Wednesday declared a 2-day holiday at Nabanna in order to carry out sanitization work in the 15-storey building. When asked to comment on the Government’s decision Dilip Ghosh said, “It is good that the TMC starts taking holidays because from next year they will go into a permanent holiday.”
