Following increased police vigil over mobile networks to tap Naxal activities and also to avoid being traced out by the security forces, Maoists in Jharkhand have started using radio networks to pass on messages to their cadres stationed in remote and distant places. Chaibasa SP, after getting inputs that Radio programmes aired in ‘Ho’ language were being used as a medium by the Maoists to guide their cadres, has ordered an inquiry involving senior police officials of the district police.
“Yes, we have received inputs that some people having naxal mindset have been passing on messages through radio programmes aired in ‘Ho’ dialect. An inquiry has been ordered under ASP (Operat-ions) Manish Ranjan and Sadar DSP Prakash Soi after the matter came into light,” said Chaibasa SP Anish Gupta.
Senior Police Officials also asserted that though the inquiry was at a primary stage, the police were trying to find out who were involved in it and what their modus operandi was.“A detailed inquiry has been ordered which will be completed in two three days following which it will be clear who were the people behind all this. Action will be taken against them,” said IG (Operations) and Jharkhand Police spokesperson Ashsih Batra.
Few programmes were aired through Chaibasa station of All India Radio in regional languages where it has been reported that some anti-national things in the support of the Maoists were spread, he added.
The ASP as per the inquiry said that they were trying to find out the people involved in it and was also searching old files related to a similar case happened in 2001-02 in Chaibasa. “We have started the probe and are trying to find out the links with an older case long back in 2001-02 where Maoists were found passing on messages to their cadres in remote jungles using radio as a medium. We are searching old files related to the case to find out those involved in it,” said DSP Prakash Soe.
