A man was brutally killed by Maoist rebels in Malkangiri district’s Chitrakonda area suspecting him to be a police informer on Wednesday. He was identified as Kurmanur panchayat Sarpanch Bhagban Krisani.
According to the Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Akhileswar Singh, a group of about 25 Maoists struck at the house of Krisani late on Tuesday night and asked him to accompany with them to attend a meeting.
They took him to a nearby jungle, 1km from the village, and tried him at a Praja court. The court awarded him death sentence. The ultras left murdered the Sarpanch there and left a poster at the spot.
