Tension gripped the Maoist-infested areas in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Rayagada districts of south Odisha on the first day of the People’s liberation Guerrilla Army (PlGA) Week which commenced on Tuesday.
However, the day passed off peacefully in the Andhra-Odisha border, much to the relief of the police who beefed up security at the police stations and intensified combing operations.
While, the State-run OSRTC buses from Jeypore to Bhubaneswar via Rayagada diverted their routes via Andhra Pradesh, the OSRTC authorities suspended bus services to Malkangiri, Narayanpatna, Parbatipur and Bandhugaon and other interior areas in Koraput district as a precautionary measure since Sunday night.
