In keeping with Narendra Modi’s pitch for ‘Make in India’ Maneka Gandhi announced the creation of brand name, ‘Women of India,’ which would make and brand products made by women and sell them in “upmarket” platforms.
Maneka said that her Ministry has already formed a committee to study the proposal, and the platform should be ready by next year. “We have formed a committee of women who will be involved in work like this. It’ll provide a platform for any women who are making good things. And it goes from organic food all the way down to clothing to... anything like papads and pickles.”
