A 28-year-old youth committed suicide on Wednesday by jumping in front of an approaching train at Chhatarpur Metro Station. The deceased, reportedly, had been under severe depression.
Ajay Kashyap, a resident of Sangam Vihar, was declared dead on the spot after being hit by the train around 2.25 pm, police said. “A couple of years ago, Kashyap separated from his wife of over five years. He was undergoing medication for depression,” DCP Railways Sanjay Bhatia said. Kashyap also left a suicide note, saying that he was depressed over his ailment. “Train operations were stopped for around 10 minutes due to the incident,” a metro spokesperson said.
