Don’t believe in BJP’s disinformation campaign. Don’t rely on their divisive tactics. Be aware of their dirty plans to break the unity of the people. Be aware of those who are trying to export Maoist ultras from Jharkhand to destroy peace in Bengal. These were the statements made by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee against the BJP on Thursday.

launching a frontal attack on the saffron party from a Tribal Day rally at Jhargram where the BJP had made some inroads in the recently held panchayat elections, Banerjee said instead of creating division in the society to garner votes, the Trinamool Congress had won the heart of the people through its performance.

“We (read TMC) is popular for our pro-people projects like Kanyasree, Rupashree, Sabuj Saathi, Swasthya Saathi — whereby the Government provides cycles to students, health insurances, Rs 25,000 to poor girl students who have attained the age of 25 — that have won us accolades throughout the world,” she said adding her party never supported communalism.

“Bengal does not subscribe to divisive culture. like some people we do not stoke communal fires, we do not set Mahatos against the Santhals, Hindus against Muslims, Christians against the Hindus, or for that matter people of one language against the other for cheap political gains,” the Chief Minister said asking the people to “be on guard about those people who drive wedges in the society for political reasons.”

Attacking the BJP for trying to create trouble in Bengal by sending Maoist ultras from the neighbouring States, she said “there are some people who are trying to export Maoists from Jharkhand and once again push your Jangalmahal to anarchy: the one you had experienced during the left rule when hundreds of people were killed by the Maoists.”

The BJP would come for a few days, “spend some cash and buy your votes in the elections by creating division in the society. But the remaining parts of the year only the Trinamool Congress will take care of your wellbeing,” Banerjee said listing the success rate of her regime in the past seven years.
