Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked BJP MPs to list out all pro-people welfare measures initiated in the Union Budget and sought them to “publicise” and “create awareness” about the Budget schemes in their respective regions.
The Prime Minister also understood to have advised MPs to play festival of Holi in their constituencies and take the opportunity to communicate with people on budgetary proposals by writing them down in paper or adopting any other simple measures.
Modi made his remarks during a briefing done by Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha for MPs about the highlights of the Budget.
Addressing BJP members at the briefing, Modi asked them to select target groups like youth, women and the socially and economically deprived sections and share with them the contents of the Budget aimed at their welfare, sources said.
According to sources, the Prime Minister said that the Budget was for the 125 crore people of India and asked the BJP MPs to celebrate Holi in their constituencies and tell the people about its main features.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has understood to have told MPs to counter the attempts by political opponents to pass the Budget as “pro-corporate”.
“Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu briefed MPs about the highlights of last week in the lok Sabha during which the Rail Budget and the Union Budget were tabled and the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address was adopted by the lower House,” said Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
Naidu had told the members that the Government was determined to getting all the Bills to replace Ordinances passed in Parliament.
Party veteran Murli Manohar Joshi also spoke on the issue relating to Government in Jammu & Kashmir where the BJP is sharing power with the PDP.
