With heavy rainfall continuing to lash parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States, Godavari River was in spate at several places and it had crossed 56-feet mark at Bhadrachalam.

Khammam district Deputy Collector Surinder Mohan said that it was likely to reach a maximum of 58 feet before starting to recede. Floods had submerged or damaged roads at least at 50 places in the districts. 500 people were evacuated to relief camps. A 47-member team of National Disaster Relief Force was busy in rescue and relief operation.

Flood water also entered the temple town of Bhadrachalam. Water was at the footsteps of the historic Ram temple. On shepherd was also washed away in Godavari in the district.

In Andhra Pradesh, warning number two was hoisted at Dhowleshwaram barrage as Godavari was rising in East Godavari district too. As water level touched 13.9 feet, authorities have opened the gates discharging 12.5-lakh cusec water into the sea. People in the low-lying areas were put on alert.

In north coastal Andhra, it was river Vamsadhara that was playing havoc submerging a large number of villages and damaging agriculture fields.

Though heavy rain has affected several districts of Telangana, Adilabad and Khammam bore the brunt. With levels of Pen Ganga in Adilabad rising rapidly and flood waters entering many villages, road links were severed and 120 villages were cut off.
