The Maharashtra Government has identified a plot of land at Aurangabad for setting up a memorial for late BJP leader Gopinath Munde, who was killed in a road mishap in New Delhi on June 3 last year. Talking to mediapersons here on Monday, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse said, “We have identified a two-acre plot in Aurangabad. The work on the memorial will begin in the next few months”..
The BJP-led saffron alliance Government’s decision to set up a memorial at Aurangabad for late Munde stems from the fact it is the revenue divisional headquarters of Marathwada, a region that the departed leader hailed from. Khadse, who was extremely close to late Munde, said that the proposed memorial would have an amphitheatre and a garden. Munde’s daughter Pankaja is the Rural Development Minister in the Devendra Fadnavis Government while another daughter Preetam is the lok Sabha member from Beed, a constituency that her father represented earlier.
