The 4th International Magic Festival at the three Dilli Haats in the Capital concluded on Sunday. The event witnessed the magic shows by famous Indian and international magicians. A large number of people visited last day of the festival at Janakpuri to witness performances by popular magicians.

The tradition of magic show in India has long been playing the disappearing act. One of the ancient performing arts, which enthralled and entertained people for ages, is losing its popularity. The festival was hosted by the Delhi Tourism in association with the Delhi Government to spread awareness about magical performances and give magic a grand entry.

"The festival was organised to revive the tradition of magic in India and popularise this art form. We have been successful in drawing large crowds to the festival and we will continue to host such events, which showcase our rich traditions and culture to the people," says Sudhir Sobti, chief manager PR, Delhi Tourism. Vendors and traders also showcased their traditional products during the festivals. An exhibition of history of magic was also held.

The festival was the first of its kind organised in the city. Indian magicians like Krishna, Brij Mohan, HG ley etc delivered a mastered show before the excited people. Brij Mohan (at Dilli Haat Janak Puri) produced eggs from silk cloth and used his sleight of hands to produce several umbrellas from one single piece.

Sumit Kharbanda stole the show by levitating a box of four-feet height and then effortlessly moving it without touching. Besides magic shows, a drawing competition for children was held at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri.
