Reaching out to families devastated by Pakistan-backed terrorism over the past three decades, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday assured swift action, including Governmentjobs, financial aid and entrepreneurial support to help them rebuild their lives.
LG Manoj Sinha met these families at an event organized with the support of the non-profit Save Youth, Save Future Foundation in Srinagar.
Over 80 families from South Kashmir, who endured immense hardships due to the loss of loved ones in terror acts, interacted with the Lieutenant Governor.
During the open session, the next of kin of the terror victims courageously countered decades of false propaganda, exposing Pakistan’s role in fueling terrorism and debunking narratives that portrayed terrorists as victims and Indian security forces as aggressors.
Since 1990, over 40,000 people—including civilians, security personnel, and children—have lost their lives to terror-related incidents in the region. Shockingly, in most civilian death cases, no First Information Reports (FIRs) were filed, leaving families without justice or closure.
Addressing this long-standing grievance, Sinha announced that directions would be issued to register FIRs for unresolved cases and pledged to reclaim land and property encroached upon by terrorist sympathizers or separatist elements.
Paying tribute to the victims, Sinha condemned the brutality of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, stating, “For decades, these families were marginalised, their voices silenced, and their pain ignored. Their stories remain untold, and the truth was deliberately suppressed.” He highlighted that before 2019, terrorists’ funeral processions were permitted, while the deaths of thousands of ordinary Kashmiris went unacknowledged.
The Government of India has launched an initiative to amplify the voices of these families, enabling them to expose the conspiracies of the terror ecosystem.
“Today, hundreds of families have found the courage to declare that their loved ones were killed by Pakistani terrorists,” Sinha said.
He assured that applications for Governmentjobs for eligible family members would be processed within a month through Deputy Commissioners, alongside financial assistance and support for entrepreneurial ventures.
Sinha emphasised the government’s commitment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to deliver justice and bring victims’ stories to the forefront.
“For years, the truth was buried under the pressure of the terror ecosystem. Now, families are exposing Pakistan and its supporters within Kashmir. We will ensure the real culprits, whether in Jammu and Kashmir or hiding in Pakistan, face the harshest punishment,” he declared.
Urging society to break its silence, Sinha called for exposing those “wearing masks” in the community.
Referencing Operation Sindoor, Sinha signaled a robust response to Pakistan’s misadventures, stating, “We will give a befitting reply to the enemy.”
