The left Front members on Tuesday protested in a unique manner by carrying toy pistols in the House before staging a walk-out along with their Congress counterparts.
“It is shameful and undemocratic,” West Bengal Chief Minister Banerjee said in the House, adding “today is a black day for us when the Members were seen carrying toy guns to intimidate their colleagues.”
However, Mamata Banerjee tended to go in a denial mode once again alleging “media plant” on a report day after her partymen were caught on camera dancing their way to a party rally with guns in their hands at Kandi Sub-Division of Murshidabad district.
Apparently taking the hint from the Chief Minister the State police drew up an FIR against unknown persons arresting some innocent people though the errant Trinamool workers were seen prominently in the procession, Congress and left alleged.
“This is another plant by a media house,” Banerjee told in the State Assembly alleging the media house had paid people to flaunt guns. In a first of its kind case in the State’s political history a number of Trinamool workers on Monday openly carried 9-mm pistols, firing them in the air to a party rally to be addressed by party MP from East Midnapore Subhendu Adhikary.
“She had earlier defended her party leaders who beat up college principals. She also was on a denial mode after the Park Street rape case saying all were planted affairs. If the Chief Minister who is also the Police Minister of the State talks in such indulgent tone then the police have nothing to do but sit idle,” said Opposition leader Suryakanto Mishra who on Tuesday had a heated exchange with the Chief Minister inside the House.
The Trinamool Congress which nearly had whole of Bengal under its feet was yet to win a single seat in Murshidabad district where the Congress’ Adhir Chowdhury ruled the roost winning two out of three MP seats for his party. The CPI (M) won the remaining one.
