The Left parties on Friday condemned the dissolution of Jammu & Kashmir Assembly, "at the behest" of BJP and RSS. The CPI(M) Polit Bureau in statement that Governor Satya Pal Malik has no business to decide on the ideologies of political parties in the valley even as CPI General Secretary Sudhakar Reddy accused the Governor of becoming a tool in the hands of Sangh Parivar.
"The action of the Jammu & Kashmir Governor, dissolving the legislative Assembly, at the behest of the Centre, is an illegal and unconstitutional step. The Governor has no business to decide that parties with "opposing ideologies" cannot form a suitable Government. By this yardstick, the PDP-BJP Government should not have been allowed to be formed after the elections. All that the Governor can do is to ask the leader who is staking claim with majority support to prove that majority on the floor of the house," said CPI(M) Polit Bureau.
"Governor Malik acting under Modi-Shah dictates not only switched off the fax machine but also switched off democracy in J&K. The Modi administration has shown scant respect for democratic institutions and this act has only shown that they will go to any extent to retain power. Shame on the anti-democratic attitudes of Modi-BJP-RSS brigade," said Sudhakar Reddy.
