left in Kerala carrying out Talibani-style killings: BJP

PNS

Accusing the ruling left Front Government in Kerala of carrying out “Talibani-style” serial killings of BJP and RSS workers with “maximum murders” of political opponents taking place in the district of Chief Minister  Pinarayi Vijayan, BJP MPs in the lok Sabha on Wednesday   demanded an investigation into the brutal murders by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

As the Treasury Benches and the left members clashed and shouted slogans against each other in the lok Sabha, the BJP members said while the BJP and RSS were the first direct target of CPM cadre, there were members of Congress also who got killed under the left front Government. “BJP is strongly protesting but Congress is not doing so for its petty vote bank politics," said BJP MP Pralhad Joshi .

He said 17 BJP and RSS workers were killed by the CPM in the last 17 months of their rule in the State. Joshi said in Chief Minister's home district Kannur (with his namesake Pinrayi town) has witnessed "maximum murders". He demanded an investigation into the killing by the NIA and the CBI.

Speaking after Joshi during the zero hour, another BJP MP Meenakshi lekhi alleged that the political opponents were being killed in "Talibani-style" in the State and even workers of Congress, CPI and Muslim league have been targeted.

lekhi listed 14 names including lakshmi, Rajesh, Pramod, Vishnu, Anil kumar and others who, she said, were "brutally attacked" in Kerala but did not attract attention even though names of minority community "do resonate". "People will immediately connect if someone talks about Pehlu Khan or Akhlaq. But nobody knows about the people killed in Kerala," lekhi said. She accused the left party of being "most intolerant".

Comments by Joshi and lekhi drew sharp reaction from the MPs of left parties as the treasury side and the left members kept shouting at each other.

lekhi, the BJP MP from New Delhi constituency, said, "The God's own country has transformed into God's forsaken country." In a hard-hitting attack on the left Democratic Front Government, she also alleged that seven children from the families of RSS and BJP workers were targeted.

"One Rajesh had received 80 wounds. His hands were chopped off. People are being killed in a Talibani style. A total of 40 Congress workers were killed in Kannur alone," she claimed.
