'Kursi chhodo' cry within Bengal CPM

PNS

Top CPI(M) leaders including politburo members Prakash Karat, Sitaram Yechury, Biman Bose, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Manik Sarkar and Suryakanto Mishra were literally foul-mouthed by their middle-level comrades for leading the party to a disaster in the recent general elections.

Inside sources said that the senior leaders had never been attacked the way they were during the past two days of the State committee meeting when a concerted demand for change of leadership was made. None however took names as to who should go or who should stay.

The top leaders who had thus far been habitual speakers making others to listen on Tuesday sat frozen at the podium while the others fired salvos one after the other mostly asking the leadership to explain the logic behind peddling the ‘rotten logic of a Third alternative’ once again to the voters and the failure of the leadership to take on the hoodlums of Mamata Banerjee.

Privately, however, the State leaders said they had nothing against Tripura Chief Minister and Bengal Opposition leader Suryakanto Mishra who were trying their best to pull the party out of the muck. The shots were mostly directed at Karat, Bhattacharjee and Bose sources said adding the ‘attackers’ “simply demanded immediate change in the leadership as without doing so the left would not survive and if the left does not survie it will be disastrous for India.”
