The Government of Karnataka has ordered to kill a prowling man-eating tiger which has killed four persons last week at the fringes of Bandipur National Park in Karnataka. Experts believe the big cat has become a man-eater and as a last option the tiger has to be shot dead.

Answering a volley of questions on Wednesday in the ongoing legislative council session at Belgaum, Forest Minister Ramanath Rai assured the members that quick action had been initiated. He told the council that a shoot-at-sight order has been issued to kill the tiger which is on a prowl at the Bandipur and Nagarahole forests in Mysore district.

The Forest Department tried to capture the tiger which went in vain and now the department has decided to kill the tiger which has killed so far four persons. The Minister said, “Principal Chief Conservator of Forest  and Forest Secretary are camping in Bandipur forest area to assess the situation. The department has ordered that man-eater tiger should be shot-at-sight.” JD(S) member in the Council MC Nanaiah questioned the Minister for listening to the activists for their objection to shoot the tiger.
