Aday after the BJP’s victory in three States and near-victory in Delhi, the party’s Karnataka unit, which was decimated by the wrath of former Chief Minister and KJP leader BS Yeddyurappa, is now beaming with confidence to face the challenges posed by the Congress with his return to the party.

The State unit is making all efforts to bring back the lingayat strongman who is expected to change the prospects for the party in the ensuing general elections in 2014. Yeddyurappa’s exit from the party has caused a humiliating defeat for the BJP and made Siddaramaiah-led Congress to form the Government.

The changing political scenario has made State leaders to push for Yeddyurappa’s return to the BJP to counter the challenge posed by the Congress and its Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is playing backward classes politics.

However, Yeddyurappa is so far undecided and still waiting for a call from the BJP seniors to take a decision about his return. Yeddyurappa told the media in Bangalore on Monday that he has not got any message from the BJP seniors regarding his home coming. He also made it clear that he had not put any condition to rejoin the party.

He said, “I have not received any such message from the BJP leadership regarding my return to the party. I have not asked for any favour from central leaders. I will take an appropriate decision at the appropriate time.”

“My request to join NDA has not been so far considered. I am also waiting for a reply,” he added. Yeddyurappa few days back had written a letter to BJP patriarch and NDA chairman lK Advani to consider his party KJP to join the NDA.

However, a close confidant of Yeddyurappa told The Pioneer that stage has been set for his return to the BJP. He said, “The State leaders, including senior BJP leader from Karnataka HN Ananathakumar, is favourable and asks him to return to the BJP. We are expecting a call from party president Rajnath Singh and they should work out a dignified return for our leader.”

The BJP’s victory in MP, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Delhi has made a very strong case for BJP to induct Yeddyurappa to lead the party in the ensuing general elections in 2014. The State BJP leaders also have intensified their effort to bring him back to the party and asked party seniors to take a decision at the earliest. State BJP chief Prahlad Joshi said that that the State unit had requested the party high command to take a decision soon to bring back Yeddyurappa, which would certainly help the prospects of the party in the 2014 lok Sabha polls.
