The much needed and awaited engagement with the party workers and volunteers was kick started by the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday where he invited a several party men irrespective of their posts and positions to interact and take a feedback to strengthen the grand old party across the country.

This kind of exercise was in great demand by the party workers and supporters who could had negligible access to the high command for years during the rotational presidentship of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Kharge is the first non-Gandhi party chief after almost three decades.

After the feedback and interactive session, Kharge said Congress is soul of the country and every representative of the grand old part is guardian of the Indian constitution.

“Congress is the soul of India. Every worker of Congress represents our constitution. We are all ready to face any challenge,” Kharge conveyed to the workers in his chamber at Akbar Road AICC office.

“The cycle of such meetings will continue,” Kharge later tweeted referring to the open discussion where he got feedback by our workers.

Most of the workers requested the party chief to allow an open session at every State party headquarters from time to time, particularly where the Congress is strong and can make a possible difference in the Lok Sabha 2024 elections.

While Sonia rarely visited the AICC headquarters on Akbar Road and even if it’s happened it was just a customary type, the visit by Rahul Gandhi too was rare occasion. He had given access to only a select leaders and his close confidants to discuss party related issues at his Bungalow at Tughlaq Lane which has been now surrendered by him after his disqualification as MP over conviction in a defamation case by Surat court.
