The first concrete step towards realising Kerala’s dream project, the `7,525-crore Vizhinjam International Deepwater Seaport, was taken on Monday with the State Government and the Adani Ports and SEZ ltd, which had won the contract for its construction and operation under PPP model, signing the construction agreement.

As per the agreement, the construction will start on November 1, Kerala’s State Formation Day. Though the Adanis will get four years to complete the first phase of construction as per the pact, group chairman Gautam Adani said that the work would be completed in 1,000 days and the first ship would visit the port within two years.
