left parties on Friday came out in support of the AAP Government, blaming the Centre for the controversial notification reiterating powers of the lt-Governor in the administration of Delhi. The CPI(M) and the CPI said the move was nothing but coercive steps of the BJP-led Government against co-operative federalism.
CPI(M)’s Brinda Karat said, “CPI(M) supports full statehood for Delhi. The present situation underlines urgency for this. Even within the present framework, the Centre and its representative should resolve the issues through co-operative federalism instead of present approach of coercive centralisation.”
CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta termed the move as “wrong”. “This is not right. It is wrong. It is against the Constitution. We support the State Government,” Dasgupta said.
