Kejriwal Govt urges LG to conduct MCD polls soon

Staff Reporter

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday appealed to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to conduct Municipal Corporation elections immediately, saying that only AAP can bring freedom from BJP’s garbage mountains. On the other hand, the BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor questioned the AAP government saying what financial or technical contribution the Arvind Kejriwal Government gave to erstwhile MCDs for removal of garbage from landfill sites during the last 7 years.

Pathak , a legislator from Rajinder Nagar said that on Friday even the Lieutenant Governor admitted that no work has been done by the MCD over the last 15 years.

“The LG admitted that right now the city is full of garbage all due to BJP’s failures. Today, from whichever side one enters Delhi – it could be from Haryana or from Uttar Pradesh – you are welcomed by the BJP’s heaps of trash that are scattered all over the city,” said Pathak.

“The MCD has over the last 15 years also, spent thousands of crores of rupees over waste management and yet the city is in such a mess right now – the height of these  tall landfills has not reduced even by an inch,” said Pathak.

“These landfills have directly started to affect the quality of lives of the people of the city. Every couple of weeks there is news about fire in these landfills. Just recently there was a massive fire that raged on for days,” said Pathak.

Reacting to Pathak’s comment, Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has said its shameful that AAP leader Pathak continues to do dirty politics against MCD in the name of garbage piles at landfill sites without his Delhi Government giving no contribution in elimination of garbage from landfill sites.

Delhi BJP Spokesperson has said that the erstwhile 3 MCDs tried their best to reduce the landfill sites heights and its due to their efforts of ensuring regular trashing that height of garbage piles not only did not increase by a inch in last 3 years but infact has gone down at both Bhalaswa & Ghazipur.
