A day after having his way in change of alignment in metro project, Telangana Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday held a review meeting with the officials to discuss various proposals regarding his idea of building a necklace of sky scrappers around Hussain Sagar lake in heart of the city.
KCR said that his Government would construct the tallest tower of the world at Sanjeevaiah Park abutting the lake. He said that while preserving the Sanjeevaiah Park as it is, world's tallest building would be built in the area.
The other sky scrappers will come up at Patigadda, Dilkusha Guest House, Nursing College and Raghava Towers in the nearby areas.
Building sky scrappers around Hussain Sagar lake to turn Hyderabad into Kuala lumpur, and developing roads, flyovers and skyways on the lines of Hong Kong are two of the various ambitions of the Chief Minister that he has revealed in the recent weeks to give a facelift to the State capital.
His vision for the city includes 60 to 100 storied glittering skyscrapers around Hussain Sagar lake and spending Rs25,000 to Rs30,000 crore to build the skyways and flyovers. This includes 5-6 integrated skyways and several multi layer flyovers all over the city to keep the metropolis free of traffic congestion in future.
KCR has also asked the officials to work on a plan to develop Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad in to a modern complex on the lines of Pragati Maidan of New Delhi.
However, the Government's plan to develop skyscrapers around Hussain Sagar lake has raised the heckles of the environmentalist and conservation activists on the ground that it will destroy the ecology and endanger the lake.
M Veda Kumar, president, Forum for Better Hyderabad, demanded the Chief Minister to scrap the plans of sky scrappers around the lake. "Over the last three decades Andhra rulers left no stone unturned to pollute the glorious and great Hussain Sagar," he said. TDP Government had sanctioned 18 construction projects around the lake to end its historic status.
