KCR removes trusted intelligence chief Reddy

In a startling move, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has removed his favourite IPS officer from the key post of the State Intelligence Chief B Shivadhar Reddy and replaced him with Naveen Chand who was recently appointed the Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad West.

Shivadhar Reddy, who is the first key officer to be picked up KCR soon after he took over as the first Chief Minister of Telangana in June 2014, was recently in the news for planning and executing the elimination of notorious gangster Nayeemuddin.

Shivadhar Reddy’s removal is part of a significant overhaul of the police department at the top level in which the number two in the State Intelligence N Siva Shankar Reddy was also removed and posted to the state Crime Investigation Department (CID).

What has perplexed many in the administration and the political circles was the fact that Shivadhar Reddy has now been given the insignificant post of Inspector General Personnel indicating that he has indeed fallen from the grace. So far he was seen as a trusted official of the Chief Minister as his input was given utmost value in taking crucial decisions.

The reason behind the move was still a matter of conjecture and the only man who can shed some light — the officer concerned — was as usual silent.

T Prabhakar Rao, DIG of Warangal Range is the new DIG Intelligence while Sandeep Shandaliya, IGP Personnel, is the new Commissioner of Cyberabad West.

DIG CID Ravi Verma was transferred as DIG Warangal Range and SP CID K Ramesh Naidu has been transferred and posted as DCP Traffic, Rachakonda.
