Kashmir to observe bandh on 2014 flood anniversary

Khursheed Wani

The authorities in Kashmir have decided to disallow a protest march by traders on the first anniversary of devastating floods that hit and destroyed most of the Capital Srinagar and hundreds of habitations in south Kashmir in September 2014. The traders have announced a complete shutdown in Kashmir on September 7, to commemorate the day when Srinagar city was deluged and cut-off from the entire world for more than two weeks. The protest aims at “Government’s utter failure” to take up relief and rehabilitation process.

Sources said that traders had planned to hold massive protest march at historic lal Chowk to highlight the agony of flood victims.
