Karamsad agitators end fast

PNS

Following intervention of Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani the indefinite fast seeking special status for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s native place Karamsad end on Wednesday.

Vaghani assured those on fast of a positive outcome on their demand. The locals, under the banner Sardar Hitrakshak Samiti, began their indefinite fast on Sunday seeking special status for Karamsad on the lines of Porbandar, the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi.

The State BJP chief, along with district collector and BJP MP Dilip Patel reached the venue of fast in Karamsad and convinced the agitating locals to give up their fast.

“We have always been sympathetic to any cause related to Sardar Patel. It is not a political issue nor can we allow it to be politicised,” said Vaghani.

He could convince agitating locals end their agitation just few hours before Patidar quota stir leader Hardik Patel was to arrive at Karamsad.
