A young Congress MlA from Goa has, in a Facebook post, demanded that Gwalior scion Jyotiraditya Scindia should be made the next Prime Minister and that incumbent Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde should be sacked.
“Country needs a young Prime Minister like Jyotiraditya Scindia who can connect with young India, a great background and class…,” says the Facebook post, which was uploaded on Wednesday. The leader also makes it clear that Scindia is a better choice than the obvious Congress Prime Minister hopeful Rahul Gandhi.
Vishwajeet Rane, himself a son of a long time Congress loyalist and current leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Pratapsing Rane. His father Pratapsingh holds the record for being elected a record number of consecutive times he has stood for elections.
His comments come at a time when the race for the 2014 lok Sabha polls is just heating up and the Congress appears keen on projecting Rahul, a Gandhi scion and son of party president Sonia Gandhi as its face for the general elections besides also at a time when Shinde is facing flak for his poor handling of the Bihar serial bomb blasts at a Narendra Modi rally in Patna.
Vishwajeet, a sitting legislator from the Valpoi legislative constituency has also said that India would be well served by appointing Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan as the Finance Minister, while also demanding that Shinde be “dumped”.
“…Ministers like Shinde, etc should be just dumped,” said Vishwajeet, who has been regularly commentating on relevant issues for several months now via Facebook.
Asked to comment on the outburst by the Congressman, leader of Opposition and Vishwajeet’s father Pratapsing Rane said: “I don’t know who feeds what there (on Facebook). I have closed my account”. Rane also refused to admit that the Facebook post by his son amounted to violation of party discipline.
