A day after the police arrested four thieves and recovered over Rs 1.14 crore and foreign currency along with gold ornaments allegedly stolen from BJP MP from Nawada in Bihar Giriraj Singh’s flat, the ruling JD(U) and RJD legislators on Wednesday created ruckus inside Bihar Assembly demanding arrest of the BJP MP over huge amount of unaccounted cash.

The BJP MP, meanwhile, has charged that it was political conspiracy against him and he would soon disclose about the whole incident before media. Giriraj Singh also said that the money belonged to his cousin and he was not a person to hide anything from public. The BJP MP has gone incommunicado with his mobile phone switched off since last evening.

However, as soon as the Monsoon Session of the Bihar Assembly convened on Wednesday, members of the JD(U) and RJD started protesting against BJP MP from Nawada Giriraj and later disrupted the proceedings of the House while demanding arrest of the BJP MP. The pandemonium led to the adjournment of the House till afternoon.

While raising the issue JD(U) MlA from Baikunthpur Manjit Singh said that the BJP MP should be arrested immediately for hiding such a huge amount of unaccounted cash in his house which was stolen and now recovered by police. Former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar too said that since the recovered amount was huge, the person from whose residence theft had happened should come forward and explain.

“I don’t want to make political statement over this but since the amount is huge it does put a question mark,” Nitish said. Similarly, former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD leader Rabri Devi demanded CBI inquiry to unravel from where such a huge amount of money had come into the residence of the Former Animal Husbandry Minister of the State.

“There should be thorough probe into it … a CBI inquiry to get the details and truth,” demanded Rabri. Her party legislator Bhai Dinesh too questioned the source of such large amount of cash that was stolen from Singh’s house. “If the huge cash amount is legal then why did Singh in his complaint to police say only Rs 50,000 was stolen from his house,” he asked.

Though, in his police complaint the BJP MP had not mentioned the amount stolen from his flat in Anandpuri locality under SK Nagar police station in the State capital.Meanwhile, Singh had said that the money recovered from his house belonged to his cousin and he would unravel the whole truth soon before media and all.

“It’s a political conspiracy against me and I’ll soon expose it,” he said.State BJP leader and leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav too said came to defend his party MP saying, “it sounded ironical that the ruling party MlAs were demanding action against BJP MP. They are in power … They are free to order any probe, any inquiry into it so what was the need to create such a din in the HouseIJ”

He also said that it was all a ploy by the ruling party to divert attention from the Rohtas Police firing incident in which two youths were killed and seven seriously injured on Monday.

“The BJP was raising the issue forcefully to corner the ruling party by demanding judicial inquire into the incident but they raised the BJP MP's issue to disrupt the House proceedings,” said Yadav.State BJP president Mangal Pandey too said, “Only Giriraj could explain and give the details on it ... and I’m sure he will soon come out to explain about it all.”

Earlier, after the Patna police had caught the thieves in a chance encounter had revealed that Rs 1.14 crore, 600 US dollar in currently notes and jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh along with some luxury watches and a handycam were recovered from the burglars who had committed crime in Giriraj’s Shivam Apartment flat at Anandpuri.

The police had arrested the servants and a bodyguard of the MP for their involvement in the theft case. The guard of the apartment too was arrested for being involved into the incident.
