The Delhi Police has arrested two persons, including a 62-year-old party member of JD(U) from Muzaffarpur, Bihar on the charges of rape. The arrest was made on Saturday following on the complaint of 29-year-old fashion designer, who claimed that the accused persons allegedly raped her around 19 years ago in several places, including in Connaught Place.
Police said that the accused persons have been identified as Shashi Shekhar Thakur and his brother Mukul Thakur, an advocate. “The victim approached the police in the April month and lodged a complaint against the accused persons. On the victim’s statement, a case was registered under Section of 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code at Connaught Place police station of New Delhi district on April 23,” a senior police officer said.
The victim, in her statement, told the police that after her birth, her mother got separated and they started residing at her aunt’s residence. “The victim claimed that her uncle along with his younger raped her in several places. They were spending money on her studies and on the pretext of meeting with the victim, they rape her,” the officer added. After registering the case, police started their investigation and after probing the case, police have arrested the accused persons from the residence in Bihar.
