JD(U), INlD forge pact for Haryana elections

Moving a step closer towards the unification of the old ‘Janata Parivar’, the Janata Dal (United) and the Indian National lok Dal on Monday decided to go together in Haryana Assembly elections.

“In an effort to unite the disintegrated Janata Dal Parivar, it has been decided by JD(U) and INlD to go together in the upcoming Assembly elections in Haryana. Both parties have good relations since the time of late Chaudhary Devi lal and our endeavour is to reunite in the same way as was in the past in view of the present political situation in the country,” said JD(U) president Sharad Yadav.

The JD(U) leader has been emphasising the need for such alliance ever since his party tied up in Bihar with lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD in the recent bypolls. He believes that this is the only way to fight the BJP.

“We have understood that the political challenges which have emerged recently can only be faced when the old Janata Parivar comes together immediately, otherwise it will be too late,” Yadav said in his statement issued by his party.
