JD(U) bats for Bihar experiment in States

PNS

Setting its eyes on five poll-bound States, particularly Assam, the Janata Dal (United) on Sunday set its plans to repeat the success of grand alliance in Bihar polls in other States by forming anti-BJP formations which may  “include Congress.”

The party which is ruling Bihar together with RJD and the Congress has in its national executive party here pitched for all ‘friendly partners’ coming on board to take on the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.

The JDU sees Assam as a potential laboratory  for the grand alliance with a high possibility of electoral success against the BJP as the latter sees the north-east state may be giving it good dividends after itssuccessive poll reverses in Delhi and Bihar.

At its national executive meeting attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and party chief Sharad Yadav, its leadership resolved to engage with other parties to explore the possibility of cobbling together an anti-BJP grand alliance at the centre but stopped short of projecting Kumar as a leader of such an outfit.

The Janata Dal (United), however, averred he was “a prime ministerial material” and the “most able and honest” Chief Minister. The party said it expected him to influence the national politics through Bihar.
