A 28-year-old youth from Jammu & Kashmir was allegedly stabbed to death and then his house was set on fire to cover up the crime as an accident in North-East Delhi’s Seemapuri area on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Sonu. He came to Delhi two months ago and was living at a relative’s place while working as a helper with a private cab operator. The relatives had gone to Panipat a few days back and Sonu was alone at home. Two days ago, however, a friend from J&K came to stay with him.
“Around 2.30 pm we got a call about the fire but by the time the police reached the fire was already doused. A charred body of Sonu was recovered from the house. It appeared as if he died due to the fire but after examining the body, stab wounds were discovered on his neck and chest. As his friend was untraced, he is the prime accused in the case,” said a police officer.
