Popular Telugu film star and founder president of Jana Sena Party, Pawan Kalyan on Monday urged the BJP Government at the Centre to fulfill its election promise of according special category status to residuary State of Andhra Pradesh. The actor, who had campaigned aggressively for the BJP-TDP alliance in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in last year's election, on Monday took to Twitter on the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh.
"Now the time has come to standby that promise! I hope the BJP will not let down the aspirations of the people who believed and supported them", the actor tweeted. Pavan Kalyan, who had addressed several election meetings along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and helped the BJP in attracting huge crowds, bared his feelings at a time when the people of Andhra Pradesh were becoming restive on the issue of special status.
Despite several and frequent reminders from the Telugu Desam Government, the Modi Government has so far not given any categorical assurance on when the promise will be fulfilled. TDP-BJP alliance has swept the lok Sabha and State Assembly elections in Andhra and the BJP is a partner in Chandrababu Naidu Government.
