Jagan to visit Telangana, TRS warns of retaliation

Fear of a fresh confrontation between Telangana Rashtra Samiti and integrationist YSR Congress Party was increasing as latter has decided to revive its activities in the region.

YSRCP president Jaganmohan Reddy, who has become a persona non-grata in Telangana region on account of his Opposition to division of the State has decided to address a public meeting in Khammam district of Telangana bordering Andhra on March 4.

Jagan decided to revive his activities in Telangana at a video conference with the party coordinators of his party. After meeting in Khammam, Jagan will launch his much delayed “Odarpu Yatra” (condolence tour) from Nalgonda district and cover all the nine districts of the region.

He had to discontinue his “Condolence tour” following his arrest in a corruption case. Jagan plans to meet the families of 250 people who reportedly died of shock after Jagan’s father YS Rajashekhar Reddy died in an air crash in September 2009.

However Jagan’s plans have come under flak from Telangana supporters, specially the Telangana Rashtra  Samiti. TRS leader T Harish Rao ridiculed Jagan saying, “It is Jagan who needs condolence not the people of Telangana”.

Another TRS leader E Rajinder has warned of serious consequences and trouble if Jagan tries to visit Telangana region. “Kiran Babu, Jagan Babu and Chandra Babu are three Andhra Babus who conspired to scuttle Telangana State”, Rajinder said.

“Jagan should take out his Yatra (tour) in Andhra. If sets his foot on Telangana, the stones of our fort are ready to give a befitting reply to him”, Rajinder warned. Obsevers say that Jagan was trying to activate his party to woo the Telangana voters who belong to Seemandhra districts. Khammam has a sizeable chunk of such voters. Sources in YSRCP say Jagan was planning to appoint his sister as the head of Telangana unit of his party.
