Ishrat case: 3 IB men in supplementary chargesheet

PNS

The CBI has finalised the supplementary chargesheet in the Ishrat Jahan alleged fake encounter case and the names of at least three Intelligence Bureau officials are likely to figure in the report.

The chargesheet has been sent to CBI Director Ranjit Sinha for his approval, sources said adding the chargesheet will include the roles of IB officials Rajeev Wankhede, MK Sinha and T Mittal. The CBI Director is expected to take a call on including the name of former Special Director Rajinder Kumar as an accused in the chargesheet, the sources said.

For now, the CBI is unlikely to include the name of former Gujarat Minister Amit Shah in the chargesheet. The supplementary charge sheet may not give antecedents of the victims — Ishrat Jahan, Javed Sheikh, Amjad Ali Rana and Zeeshan Johar but could be mentioned in another supporting chargesheet that is being mulled by the agency.

The agency might file a third charge sheet giving further details on the meetings involving Gujarat officials and ministers which took place purportedly to save the police officials who were named as accused in the encounter.
