Influence of RSS the basic problem: Kharge to Modi

PNS

The Congress on Thursday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of working under the heavy influence of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which it alleged was the main reason behind all the problems and chaos the country was facing.

leader of Congress in lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge told Modi, who was also present during the debate on Motion of Thanks, that the influence of RSS and certain people around him was the basic problem his Government was facing and it doesn’t suit him as the Prime Minister of the country.

“There is a heavy influence of RSS on you. This is fine for BJP and Pracharaks, but not good for the Prime Minister. There are different medicines for different diseases. RSS has never thought about poor,” said Kharge.

“Aapke aaju-baaju me aise log rehenge to apke projects, apki gaadi kitni door tak chalegi (If such people are around you, then how will you be able to take your projects forward),” he said.

Kharge was interrupted by BJP leaders on several occasions and at one point he lost cool with BJP MP Ramesh Vidhuri. As Vidhuri sought to counter him, Kharge said “go to your seat. You are not so senior (to sit in front benches)... You cannot talk to me like that”.

Vidhuri, who was speaking from the front rows of the Treasury benches and was not in his seat, was heard saying “I am a member of Parliament”.  Whenever Kharge mentioned RSS, several BJP MPs were heard countering him saying that the Congress’ affiliation was towards Italy only, in an apparent reference towards Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s origin.

Kharge also accused the Government of repackaging most schemes of the erstwhile United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government and cutting down benefits to farmers. He said there was a huge difference between the “policies and intentions” of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government.
