30% children not getting immunization
New Delhi: At least 30 per cent of children in the country are not getting the immunization facilities due to several reasons, the government admitted on Wednesday. "All such reasons can be managed," he said in his keynote address at the 11th International Rota virus Symposium in the capital. He said at least in 95 per cent cases of death of children were due to "absolutely and compulsorily preventable" causes. The government is also geared up to meet the Millennium Developmental Goals for maternal and child mortality, he said.
Extra-judicial killings: SC reserves verdict
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday reserved its verdict on the issue of laying down guidelines for probe into cases of encounter deaths and extra-judicial killings. A bench, headed by Chief Justice M lodha, has taken on record responses of the Centre, state governments, union territories and National Human Rights Commission for framing the guidelines to deal with the issues of encounter killings.
Bird rescued
New Delhi: A bird which fell to ground after being stuck in a kite string in lodhi road was rescued by the fire department on Wednesday evening around 6.30pm.
