Shibin of Karalam in Kerala’s Thrissur district, who had the other day tried to kill a 21-year-old girl, a BCom student who had spurned his love, four women and a 21-year-old boy by ramming his Maruti Swift car into them, has gone into hiding along with his father Surendran and mother Rini, according to the police.
In a virtual re-enactment of the horror drama at Puzhakkal, Thrissur in January in which a businessman had rammed his Hummer SUV into a security guard, Shibin (21) had rammed his car into the girl, whom he had been stalking for over a year, when she was going home after offering prayers at a temple at Kovil Road in her village, Arimbur, near Thrissur.
The incident took place at Kovil Road around 9.30 am Tuesday. Shibin hit the girl with the car which was at breakneck speed as she was returning home from the temple, eyewitnesses said. The car sped away after hitting the girl when six women and Rahul (21) came from the neighbouring houses to the scene after hearing the girl’s cries and the sound of the vehicle.
But Shibin returned with the car just when the neighbours were trying to trying to help the girl and rammed it into all of them. As the car advanced, two of the women saved themselves by running away but the others did not get time for that. Shibin escaped the scene quickly as more people gathered. The car was later found abandoned at a nearby place, the police said.
The four women – Syamala (55), her daughter Amrita (23), Ramya (28) and Padmini (60) – and Rahul, brother of Ramya, who could not run away from the scene, was injured.
Reports indicated that Shibin had rammed his car into the girl as an act of revenge for spurning his proposal. According to locals, the youth had been stalking her for the past one year. The girl’s relatives said that Shibin approached her family with marriage proposal.
